Questions
Why do MMPs use different parameter names?
Each MMP designed its own link format, so the same idea has different names: the click ID is clickid on AppsFlyer, ~click_id on Branch and tid on Linkrunner. Using the wrong name means the value is ignored.
What is a tracking link?
A tracking link is the URL an ad network or affiliate sends a user through before the app store, so the advertiser's MMP can record the click and match it to the install. It carries the campaign, the partner's click ID and optional sub-IDs.
What is a click ID?
A click ID is a unique value the partner generates for every click and passes on the tracking link. The MMP returns it in the postback, so the partner can match each conversion back to the exact click it paid for.
Does this generator send anything to a server?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. It builds and checks the link locally and never fires a click or contacts any MMP.
Why does my final link still show {click_id}?
Your platform did not replace its macro before redirecting the user. MMPs store an unreplaced macro as plain text, so the conversion cannot be matched to your click. Check the macro syntax your platform expects.
